I purchased this book with the normal skepticism that I have towards the "unknown" and knowing that the primary subject area "Monsterland" is fairly close to where I grew up. I had heard some silly rumors as a kid, but never ventured there myself, or thought much of it. All I can say is that this book is an eye opener, in many many ways. I had no idea how prevalent the history of the "unknown" is, in and around the Leominster area and Massachusetts as a whole.The author has clearly done his homework and produced a thoroughly researched and well cited testament to the mysteries that surround us. There are so many documented cases and stories in this book that it is hard to get your arms around them all. I have been constant reader of 7-10 books a year for over twenty years. I can say with the utmost honesty, this will probably be the first book I have ever read a second time. You simply cannot take it all in with one read. You will find yourself shaking your head,over and over.
This book is a fantastic achievement for what appears to be the first book for an author that has a natural ability to clearly articulate a story and relay the facts of numerous cases, without getting bogged down in the minutia and boring the reader. Two thumbs up. One for the book and one for the author's effort here. Obviously a ton of work and research went into this. And it paid off. If anyone knows of any other books written by Mr. Leblanc, please share.

Monsterland really opened up my eyes to my overall surroundings. I have always questioned the unknown, and Monsterland brings out the many ways we can look at things in a different light to explore the truth. Being from the Massachusetts, I also felt like I was learning a lot about the history of the area as well. People forget that there are many things that are going on around us that are beyond are understanding. We go to work, play with our kids, and do mundane tasks to pass the time. We're not always looking for the truth about things we don't understand. Read Monsterland.... and tell me you don't question what is really going on behind the scenes.
Great book,I heard an interview with the author on a local radio station WAAF and bought it.This area is close to my house and I will e going there if I get the nerve!
There's probably an interesting story in here somewhere, but the quality of the text makes it difficult to stay engaged- even though I am a fan of paranormal writing and a resident of Central MA where these events occurred. Obviously, it is difficult to remain credible when discussing the paranormal, and the reader should know that a preponderance of anecdotes does not make a fact. In spite of these things, the presentation and storytelling should transcend these issues and create an entertaining reading experience; here, however, the author's under-developed voice and over-reliance on quoted sources makes for an unsatisfying and choppy reading experience.
There are some places in the world that just seem to attract the strange and bizarre. New England has a lot of deep history and deep strangeness to go with it, but that is probably true of other places too. Leominster, MA seems to have more than its fair share of strangeness. This book was informative, engaging, and entertaining. After decades of my own delving into the para-normal I have become jaded when it come to books on this subject, but this one was a refreshing change. Being from Maine, I could really appreciate the history and the flavors that the author expressed within its pages. This one will make your hair stand up.
I enjoyed this book and don't regret buying it. I really liked the many pages of detailed and real cases from around Massachusetts. By the end of the book, however, I found myself doubting some of the personal experiences claimed by the author; either he is a one-of-a-kind magnet of all sorts of "paranormal" activity or he is dreaming up some of his encounters (flip a coin perhaps?). It was hard to swallow his claim that he could communicate with Bigfoot and received marbles from them at his home...wtf? If you can forgive the unbelievability of the personal encounters, it is an enjoyable read overall.
Le Blanc has written a very interesting and entirely engrossing book on the phenomenon of Bigfoot, UFOs and orange orbs. He expertly ties the three together, using some very impressive research. He also draws on his own personal experiences. This area of the country is alive with all kinds of phenomenon, and he brings in historical records and eyewitness accounts to legitimize these reports. His enthusiasm is very apparent in his writing, which will keep you riveted to each page. A must read for any fan of Bigfoot or UFOs.
Although I may not be a true believer of "Big Foot", I must say that this book was very well written and drew me in from the very first page. It was obviously well researched by the author and put together in a cohesive story line that I found fascinating. Having grown up and still residing in the area it rekindled folklore that abounded when I was a kid that gave me a healthy fear of walking into the woods alone.....this book has forced me to open my eyes and has planted a seed. Kudos to Ronny LeBlanc for a commendable job and I"m looking forward to more from him in the future.
